Why Van Wilgen’s?
For generations of reasons. Established back in 1920, we are a family-owned business with deep roots in the plant world. Here at Van Wilgen’s, we believe in the importance of giving back – to our local communities, and of course, our customers! We Love Teachers!
We know many teachers buy their own supplies and additional items for students who may not be fortunate enough to afford what they need. That’s why during August, we offer a 20% off any houseplants and pottery when you bring in new and essential school supplies like pencils, tissues, and hand sanitizer. Any supplies brought in are donated to local school systems!
Closer to Free Ride
Closer to Free Ride directly supports research and patient care at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. We began sponsoring Closer to Free in 2016. We were a bronze sponsor in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. In 2021, we were a $5,000 Silver Sponsor, 2022 and 2023 we were a $10,000 Gold Sponsor, and in 2024 and 2025, we were a $15,000 Platinum Sponsor!
