‘Phoenix Red’ emerges from the ground as a tight mound of narrow, deep green, pointed foliage. As late spring approaches, thick, bud bearing stalks rise above the foliage and open in June to reveal fat spikes of big red flowers with white throats that show brilliantly in the landscape while attracting butterflies and hummingbirds from across the garden. Long blooming and easy to grow along with being drought tolerant.
