Lilacs have always been a bit out of reach for anyone with space concerns due to their bulky nature, but ‘Prairie Petite’ is a dream come true for those who have confined spaces to deal with, as it matures at less than half the size of a normal Lilac. It may be smaller in size, but it doesn’t skimp on flower power, as big cones of buds open to deep pink flowers in early to mid-May, unfurling their beauty and beguiling scent for all to enjoy. The profuse blooms fade to lavender as they age and can be used to great effect as a cut flower in the home. ‘Prairie Petite’ will grow well in half to full day sun and is perfect as a stand alone small specimen or grouped to form an enticing little hedge.
