Snake Plant: August Houseplant Highlight


This month, we are highlighting Snake Plant! Also known as Sansevieria or Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, this houseplant is an excellent choice for those looking for easy care and cleaner air. It’s tolerant of many conditions, including low light and infrequent watering, making it perfect for beginners. DO NOT overlove this plant as it is susceptible to root rot from overwatering. Snake plants also release oxygen at night and help remove indoor air pollutants!

Light Needs

  • Best in bright indirect light
  • Can also do well in low light

Water Needs

  • Water once every 3-4 weeks

Notable Characteristics

  • Unique sword-like leaf structure
  • Resilience and minimal care requirements make for an excellent beginner plant
  • Great bedroom plant (improves sleep, and some even say Snake plants can reduce snoring)
